Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh!

The human heart longs to be united with its beloved. It longs to be one with the creator. There is no life in this planet, no living human who does not experience this longing. The way to the union, the marriage of the soul and God is not always clear. This is why we need a guide, to walk the path in constant grace, growth and steadiness. The guide in this path – from darkness to light – is a Guru. The link which helps us connect with the beloved.

Sikh Dharma is a path which entails a holistic view and lifestyle of the world. We are not sinners, we are not imperfect, we are part of God, we just have to realise it. There is no ritual, no impositions, no empty religion in the heart of Sikh Dharma. It is a Dharma – a path to righteousness, to destiny, to clear out karma.

Sikh Dharma is a way of life in bliss and in union with oneself. The Sikh Gurus described, chanted and shared with all their disciples (of all religions) the way to free ourselves from attachments and ignorance, so we can use all the potential we have as humans. The teachings – just as the Golden Temple, Siri Harimander Sahib – are open to all religions, races, castes and nationalities to experience God within themselves.

The first and foremost teaching of Sikh Dharma – written in the holy living book Siri Guru Granth Sahib – is EK ONG KAAR. It means “The creator is one with the creation”, “I am one with God”, “my finite self can be united with my infinite self”.

I invite you all to join me and dive into the beauty, bliss and courage of the Sikh Dharma path!

In humble service to the Divine in all,
Sukhdev Kaur
